Images of America These photos do not fall into any particular category,
but were the scenes that interested me enough to photograph them and
present them here. The first image of this group is a map of my travels.

Route Map of the US, This map shows all the routes I took during a 9-week
visit in 2002

The White House, I spent 4 days in Washington D.C. on speaking
engegements, plus a few hours for sightseeing

Monterey Aquarium, Monterey Bay is famous for its marine life. The
Monterey Aquarium is also world class.

Mojave Graveyard, Where do unwanted aircraft go to die? To a desert
airfield at Mojave, California, that's where.

The Bible Belt, This is the sign greeting you as you enter Clinton,
Oklahoma. It advertises 24 churches for a town of only 9,000 people.

Oklahoma Oil, These oilwells dot the landscape of the Oklahoma Panhandle.

Route 66 Motel, This is Glancy's Motel in Clinton, Oklahoma, an original
Route 66 motel which thrived in those early days of motoring. It is
still open for business and has a 'Route 66' atmosphere about it.

Sunset Ridge, This ridge in Utah makes for some wonderful sunset colours

Wind Turbines, This is just a part of a 5-mile line of wind turbines
sprawled across the California skyline. Yuk.

Above BWI, This is the view from the air over Baltimore-Washington
International airport. I flew from there to Oklahoma City.

Cannery Row, Cannery Row in Monterey, California. Now a popular tourist
spot.

Castle for Heroes, A castle-like fire station building in Clinton,
Oklahoma

Leaning Tower, This water tower has seen better days. Only in Texas.

Route 66, This is a remnant of the original Route 66, just east of
Clinton, Oklahoma. It is still used as a local road.

Oklahoma City Memorial, This is the beautifully designed and tasteful
memorial built to the memory of those who died during the Oklahoma City
bombing.

'Weeping Jesus', This is a statue mounted outside the Oklahoma City
Memorial park, dedicated to the victims of the Oklahoma City bombing

Boot Hill, Boot Hill is a theme park in Dodge City, Kansas, dedicated to
the old Wild West days. The landscape all around Dodge City and western
Kansas generally is spectacularly flat.

Los Alamos Mesa, This is the view coming down the long hill from Los
Alamos, New Mexico

Foothills of the Rockies, This is an attractive meadow backed by
mountains just west of Boulder, Colorado.

The U.S. Congress, The Capitol building in Washington D.C.

D.C. Metro, This is one of the metro stations in Washington D.C.

Interstate I-40, This is a typical Interstate Highway, this one near
Clinton, Oklahoma, the I-40

The Great Salt Lake, The Great Salt Lake of Utah. I was amazed to find a
colony of seagulls on the southern shore

Panguitch, Utah, Very attractive and old shop fronts in Utah
|
New Orleans, This is a photo taken in passing from the Greyhound Bus I
was travelling in. I travelled by bus all the way from Missouri, down to
Texas for a speaking engagement in Houston, and from there up to
Washington D.C. for more speaking venues. Riding Greyhound for such a
long distance was - an experience definitely to be missed.

Roswell Alien, Roswell is the home of the famous UFO incident of 1948.
This 'alien' is actually the dummy used in the movie 'Roswell'. It is on
display at the UFO museum in Roswell, New Mexico

UFO Museum, This is the 'UFO Museum and Research Center' at Roswell, New
Mexico. Apart from the museum itself, it has a comprehensive library of
just about every UFO publication from anywhere in the world, fully
catalogued. While the museum exhibits are so-so, the library resources
are really impressive and well worth the look.

The UFO Fragment, This is on display at the Roswell UFO Museum and is
purported to be a fragment of the 'thing' that fell from the sky in 1948,
complete with a chemical analysis from the Los Alamos Laboratory.

Squirrel, This squirrel was fairly tame and 'posed' for this photo at
Bryce Canyon, Utah

American Suburbia, This photo seemed typical to me of much of suburbia in
America. This particular suburb was in Omaha, Nebraska

Rural Wyoming, A rural scene in Wyoming. Notice the snow-capped
mountains in the distant west

Washington Monument, The Washington Monument in Washington D.C. Notice
the aircraft taking off to the right of the monument.

The Birds, A reminder of Hitchcock's movie 'The Birds'. These ones
gathering outside a road house near Bryce Canyon, Utah

Rio Not So Grande, The Rio Grande River in New Mexico. A bit of a
disappointment as rivers go.
